Before you appoint a marine surveyor
What information is needed for a Montenegro yacht survey quote?
Provide the exact marina or yard, vessel details, construction, purpose and date. Include facility access, haul-out, sea trial and any insurer, lender, flag, tonnage or Montenegrin technical-inspection requirement.
Can a survey include both the Bay of Kotor and Bar?
A surveyor may travel, but they are separate operating areas. Give the actual vessel location and preferred yard so travel, access and any movement of the yacht can be priced and agreed.
Is a private pre-purchase survey the same as a Montenegrin technical inspection?
No. Montenegro’s maritime authority has a Technical Inspectorate and a Division for Technical Survey and Registration of Yachts. Formal documents, tonnage or seaworthiness work must follow the applicable authority route.
Can a superyacht or refit project be surveyed?
Potentially. State the yacht dimensions, build material, yard, project stage and required disciplines so suitable large-yacht, coatings, machinery or project experience can be checked.
Are marina access, haul-out and sea trial included?
Only when stated in writing. Security passes, yard fees, lift or dock, wash, relaunch, skipper, fuel, travel and specialist testing may be separate.
Who appoints the marine surveyor?
The client appoints the independent surveyor and agrees scope, fee, timing, limitations and terms directly. Montenegro Marine Survey provides information and introductions only.
